Remember when it was warm out?
Well, I can’t say that it’s particularly cold out right now – what with our naked, naked earth and all… However, here are a couple of pictures of happier fall days when it was pants weather, but not quite coat weather. I remember this as a particularly lovely fall day. I also remember how totally awkward it was to carry my camera bag around with me the whole time. I need to get a mini-one… You know, one that doesn’t contain the kitchen sink?
Also, on a side note, is it ever possible to NOT feel like a creeper when taking pictures in/of public places? Since inevitably there will be some random people in those pictures? Maybe I just am a creeper… since sometimes I am taking pictures of random people (none of those ‘purposeful’ ones are included here though!) on purpose. It’s ok though, the ducks below didn’t seem to mind. Well, that is if one considers ‘not minding’ to be ‘run away! run AWAY!!!!’. Luckily for me they weren’t very fast.
Think happy thoughts – even though there is not any snow on the ground yet, at least we aren’t at a serious risk for frostbite yet!
The First of Many?
Well, let’s see how this goes, eh? I’m planning on using this as a place to document my photographic journey as I learn how to use my new Canon EOS Rebel T3i.
More on me later, but to get us started here are some pictures of a gorgeous cake that my mom made for my nephew’s third birthday. Momma Stalder can correct me as necessary, but this is a chocolate cake. Just a chocolate cake, not her famous bourbon-chocolate which is to die for, because, after all, this is a kid’s cake! Evidently I should’ve known not to ask why she didn’t make the bourbon one. I like bourbon. I’m sure three year olds would too. It’s mostly chocolate – really! Mom – I expect bourbon chocolate cakes for all of my future children’s birthdays. I mean, it’s the Wisconsin way after all. Oh yeah, and along with a deliciously creamy chocolately cakey center, this is covered with fondant, and the whole gall blang thing is edible (I didn’t taste the wheels, but Connor seemed to love them at least!)
Obviously, we can’t forget the birthday boy! He sat next to this cake and stared at it for hours… He loves cake, he loves school buses, it seems that they’re a match made in heaven! I mean, really, I can’t think of another time when I’ve seen him so darned happy. I can imagine a future time however – it’ll be when he gets his ‘digger’ cake that is in the planning stages for a January ‘kids’ birthday party (no bourbon?). I’ll make sure to take pictures so your mouth can water over it after my mom finishes construction.
Sad panda. Is it time to eat yet?
